Reverse Engineer Post - Purple
PURPLE!
Not only is this a funny play on words for the common placed meme, but I feel like it has some redeeming design qualities as well. I'll list them out below.
1) First off, using the common culture of the demographic they are appealing to (millennials in this case) is an awesome example of effective branding. The fact that they want to come off as a company that will be able to appeal to the younger generation is awesome. This definitely helps sell their product and get people to like them.
2) I think that they also used product placement very well. They were able to photoshop their logo and a sleep mask perfectly onto this actress' face so that it blends in. That is a great way of using design principles. It follows the principle of continuity so well that most people would not have noticed it was there unless they saw it on Purple's facebook page or looked closely.
3) They chose this picture very well also because of the actress' arms. The way that they are positioned creates leading lines that direct your eyes up to the main focus of the picture, the Purple facemask. Leading lines are a very common design principle that people use in good art.
Overall, I would say that this brand's post was extremely effective. It was good enough to get me to write up a blog post about it!
